Welcome

Thanks for visiting my blog. I began journaling about my daily life when I was eleven. Over the years, this has grown to become a way for me to share my thoughts rather than my daily life. I’m pretty open with sharing all the beautiful chaos of life with six children. I have to remind myself to extend grace to myself each and every day! It is my hope that my writings will help others to learn to extend grace to themselves too. After all, if it weren’t for the Grace of God, life would just be messy. I’m so glad that life can instead be a Beautiful Mess and is covered by His Beautiful Grace.

4 Generations Layout

Supplies Used:  Silhouette Creative Basics paper pack (unavailable now but can use the Level 2 pack)
Vineyard Berry Cardstock, Colonial White Cardstock, Desert Sand Cardstock
                        Vineyard Berry Grosgain Ribbon
                        Solos 4 My Acrylix
                        Connections My Acrylix
                        Romantic Backgrounds (Retired)
Expressives Vol. 1 Font CD (CTMH Fountain Pen)
                        Pewter Brads
                        May Word Puzzle

Left:  To create the left side of the layout, I started with a 9x10 piece of colonial white cardstock.  I stapled vineyard berry ribbon in 5 pleats to the top left of the cs and covered the last staple with a stamped image from Connections My Acrylix set and adhered with a pewter brad.  I then used a 8x9 piece of desert sand cardstock and stamped one row of background from Romantic Backgrounds My Acrylix, leaving a 1/4 inch border on both sides and the bottom.  I adhered a 4 3/4 x 3 peice of B&T paper (round the corner first) and a 4 3/4 x 5 1/2 piece of B&T paper to the top of the desert sand piece, leaving a 1/4 inch border on both sides and the top.  I added the photo (4x6) and used the Solos 4 My Acrylix to stamp the 4 on colonial white cardstock and cut it out, leaving the center in tack.  I used the Fountain Pen font from the Expressives Vol. 1 disk to print out Generations of McCormick's.  I adhered both to the layout as desired.  I then rounded the corner of the desert sand cardstock and the colonial white and then adhered them together.  I then placed it in the center of the vineyard berry cardstock, leaving a 1 inch border on both sides and a 1 1/2 inch border on top and bottom.  I had to randomly trim the desert sand cardstock so that it would center on the colonial white and still cover the staples at the top from the ribbon.

Right:  To create the right side of the layout, I began by cutting a 10 inch circle using the George cartridge and my Cricut Expressions.  You can also use a dinner plate by placing it upside down on the back of your cardstock and tracing it lightly.  You can then cut it out or use and Exacto knife to cut around the dinner plate without tracing.  I used the same background stamp to create a background on the circle.  I cut a 4 1/2 x 11 piece of striped B&T paper and a 2 x 12 piece of other B&T.  I adhered the circle to the center of the vineyard berry cardstock, the striped paper about 1/2 inch from top and bottom and 1 inch from the right, the other B&T paper was placed with the top and bottom edges flush and about 2 inches fromt he right.  I stamped the border using the May Word Puzzle My Acrylix onto a 1x5 3/4 piece of colonial white (my photos weren't quite 4x6 for some reason).  I printed Family of Love on colonial white, cut it down to 1 1/2x 5 3/4 and stamped the same border along the bottom.  I adhered the 1x 5 3/4 piece about 1 inch from the top, added the two photos and put the 1 1/2x 5 3/4 piece about half and inch from the bottom (all about 3 inches from the right).  I wanted to add the names of Elijah's grandparents but the layout didn't really need a lot of journaling because of the pages before it in his album.  I used the same font to print out each of their names as well as ours (Mommy/Daddy/Elijah) and added those randomly to the left side.  I stamped the same image from Connections My Acrylix onto colonial white and cut them out.  I used a pewter brad to adhere them to the layout.  I added vineyard berry grosgain ribbon to the right side, tying a knot in the center and placing it 2 1/2 inches fromt the right.
